The Torrevieja Horror Short Film Festival, Torrerífico, celebrates its ninth edition on Saturday, 24 October 2026, at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Centre, with a day dedicated to horror cinema and its many subgenres.
After receiving 173 submissions, the festival has selected 14 finalist short films to compete for this year's awards. Audiences can enjoy stories ranging from supernatural and psychological horror to slasher films, body horror, zombies, horror noir and social horror, among other genres.
The festival will award €1,700 in prizes, divided into three categories: First Jury Prize (€1,000), Second Jury Prize (€500) and Audience Award (€200). Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite short film.
New features this year include competitions, cosplay guests and prize draws, adding even more entertainment to this special event in the run-up to Halloween.
The festival is organised by the University of Alicante's Torrevieja Campus, the La Comarca Youth Association and Torrevieja City Council's Youth Department.
