SICTED, a Commitment to Quality
Torrevieja City Council has been part of SICTED since 2014, making quality a central focus of its tourism initiatives. This commitment is helping to shape a more sustainable, innovative and forward-thinking destination, ready to embrace the opportunities and challenges ahead.
SICTED is a nationwide initiative aimed at raising quality standards across tourist destinations in Spain. Led by the Spanish State Secretariat for Tourism, with the support of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), the programme brings together tourism businesses and service providers from up to 37 different sectors, all working towards a common goal: delivering better experiences and greater visitor satisfaction.
The programme offers a structured approach to quality management, helping destinations and local businesses continually improve their services and maintain consistently high standards across the visitor experience.
To support participating businesses, SICTED provides a range of practical tools and resources, including:
- Sector-specific guides to best practices
- Training programmes
- On-site support and guidance from accredited advisers
- Collaborative workshops
- Working groups focused on identifying opportunities for improvement, alongside assessments to ensure that participating services meet the programme's quality standards.
Businesses and services that successfully meet these standards are awarded the Compromiso de Calidad Turística (Commitment to Tourism Quality) distinction.
