Every July, the city pays tribute to the patron saint of sailors with a programme of events that combines devotion, music, popular activities and especially moving moments by the sea.
The programme includes religious events, a floral offering, children’s activities, a paella competition, the traditional maritime cucaña, a procession through the town centre and fireworks, keeping alive Torrevieja’s historic bond with the sea and its people.

Festivities in honour of the Virgen del Carmen
Saturday, 11 July
8:00 pm – Mass and floral offering at the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Mass in memory of deceased fishermen, sung by the Masa Coral José Hódar.
This will be followed by a floral offering accompanied by the Unión Musical Torrevejense, from Calle Zoa to Paseo Juan Aparicio.
The event will end at the Monument to the Man of the Sea with the performance of the Salve Marinera.
Wednesday, 15 July
Paella competition at the Lonja in the port, with music by the brass band Los Sulfamidas.
The prize-giving ceremony will take place at the end of the competition.
Thursday, 16 July
8:00 am - Musical wake-up parade. Musical wake-up parade through the streets of Torrevieja, with a brass band playing festive melodies.
Approx. 11:30 am - Maritime cucaña in the port. Participants will try to reach a small flag placed at the end of a slippery pole over the sea.
8:00 pm- Solemn Mass at the Church of the Immaculate Conception
Mass sung by the Masa Coral José Hódar.
After the Mass, the procession of the Virgen del Carmen will take place through the town centre, followed by the maritime procession.
Route: Church of the Immaculate Conception, Calle Caballero de Rodas, Plaza de la Constitución, Calle Ramón Gallud, Calle Concepción, Paseo Vista Alegre and the port area, where the Virgen will be embarked for her procession by sea.
The procession will then return through the port area, Calle Joaquín Chapaprieta, Calle Caballero de Rodas and back to the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
The procession will include a tribute to musicians on Paseo Vista Alegre and will end with a fireworks display before the return to the church.
