Gastronomy in Torrevieja is sure to surprise you, with its perfect blend of the finest seafood and the most delicious fruit and vegetables from the Vega Baja region.
Torrevieja’s cuisine combines tradition and modernity in a varied and high-quality offering. Based on Mediterranean cuisine, it draws on fresh fish and produce from the Huerta del Bajo Segura, resulting in balanced and flavourful dishes.
Among its most representative dishes are the caldero, a creamy rice dish cooked with rock fish and served with aioli, and dried octopus, one of the city’s most unique and traditional dishes, closely linked to its seafaring heritage. Alongside these, the local cuisine offers seafood stews and specialities made with seafood that reflect Torrevieja’s fishing heritage.
Throughout the year, numerous gastronomic events are held that showcase the local restaurant scene, such as Pastel y Café, Lent Menus, Tapas or Torrevieja Rice Dishes, amongst other events that allow you to taste and discover the city’s culinary richness.
