The Torrevieja Casino is one of the most iconic buildings in the town centre and a historical and cultural landmark of the town. Home to the Casino de Torrevieja Cultural Society, founded in 1867, thecurrent building was constructed in 1896 and is a fine example of late 19th-century architecture.
Its design, characteristic of the so-called ‘fin-de-siècle’ style, combines various decorative influences. Inside, visitors can admire unique spaces such as the main hall with its coffered ceiling, the “Generation of ’98” and the well-known Moorish room in the Neo-Nasrid style, built in 1901 by Andalusian craftsmen and designed to evoke a courtyard in Granada.
Throughout its history, the building has witnessed different periods in the city’s history and today remains one of the most emblematic buildings in Torrevieja’s architectural heritage.
