Long description

The S-61 “Delfín” submarine, moored in Torrevieja’s fishing port, is one of the city’s major tourist and cultural landmarks. On 8 May 2004, it became the first vessel of the Spanish Navy to be turned into a floating museum in Spain.

A Daphne-class submarine, it was handed over by the Navy to the City Council after being decommissioned, thus maintaining the close historical link between Torrevieja and the Navy. The city had already presented it with its battle flag on 1 December 1974, in an emotional ceremony that reaffirmed Torrevieja’s seafaring tradition.

The visit allows you to explore the inside of the vessel and experience first-hand what life was like on board, with access to its different areas. It is a unique experience that brings visitors closer to the underwater world and recent naval history.

Alongside the “Delfín” is the patrol boat Albatros III, forming a unique ensemble of floating museums that reinforce Torrevieja’s seafaring identity.
