Los Náufragos Beach
The Blue Flag confirms that this is an outstanding beach. It is long…
La Mata Beach, also known as Torrelamata, stretches for approximately 2,365 metres, making it the longest beach in the municipality of Torrevieja. Its popularity is thanks to its excellent location and generous size, making it a favourite destination for both residents and visitors. Along its length, the beach offers a wide range of services designed to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable visit, from beach bars with varied food options to sunbed and deckchair hire for those looking to relax.
For visitors looking for something more active, there are children’s play areas and spaces for beach sports. But La Mata Beach is much more than sun and sand; it is also home to protected areas of great ecological value, where native flora and fauna can be observed, adding a natural and educational dimension to the experience.
To make the beach easier to manage and enjoy, it is divided into two main areas: La Mata North and La Mata South. Each has its own distinctive features, enriching the overall experience.
La Mata North: This area, approximately 415 metres long, stretches from the Acequión channel to Avenida de los Europeos. Its proximity to the urban centre of Torrelamata makes it one of the most frequently visited areas. Highlights include the Torre del Embarcadero, a protected 16th-century heritage site, and the "A.J. Cavanilles Dune", an area dedicated to the recovery of dune vegetation. It also has an adapted area for people with disabilities.
La Mata Norte offers an assisted bathing service for people with reduced mobility from 15 June to 15 September, between 10:30 am and 2:30 pm and between 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm. Advance booking is required by calling 670 563 022. The service is only available when the green flag is flying.
La Mata South: In its central section lies the Molino del Agua Municipal Natural Area, a protected space with a dune ecosystem of great value. Due to its exposure to the wind, adapted bathing services are offered on other nearby beaches.
This summer, Torrevieja is holding environmental activities on different beaches to learn more about the marine environment, encourage good practices and promote the care of the Mediterranean. On this beach, the activities will take place on 1 July 2026 in La Mata Norte, 8 July in La Mata Centro and 15 July in La Mata Sur. You can check the location of the activities here: Environmental activities on the beaches.
